The spine and spinal cord are wonderful and complex systems providing support for our bodies and serving as a conduit protecting the major nerves of ht e body. Unfortunately like all of our body parts the spine is subject to aging and degeneration. This degeneration is a major cause of lower back pain. As we age the disc that serve as cushions between our vertebrae become stiffer and less flexible.<\/p>\n

Sometimes this aging disc can bulge out and put pressure on nerve roots causing severe discomfort and an aching back. As we get older the odds on this happening increase. So what can we do to treat this condition and hopefully prevent it?<\/p>\n

Treatment: Like any discomfort in you back rest, an ice pack and an over the counter pain killer can help reduce your suffering for most the pain will go away. If your aging back persists or get worst see your doctor.<\/p>\n

Prevention: Although we can’t prevent aging of the disc we can take positive steps to cure and prevent back problems by following a system of exercises design to strengthen muscles and eliminate muscle imbalance. Make sure that the exercises you do are right for you.<\/p>\n
