When you hear of the terms “neck and back pain” and “spine pain”, we use them interchangeably. In some cases, those terms may have different meanings. Neck and back pain are generalized terms and can be the result of various different causes. Furthermore, those terms are not limited to the neck or back but may describe pain in the arms and legs as well. A spinal problem does not always promote neck or back pain.
If you have neck or back pain or a spinal problem, you may experience a list of symptoms that include:
- Pain resulting from stress or emotional issues.
- Problems with sleep, decreased energy, depression, and anxiety.
- Numbness, weakness, or tingling in the legs.
- Pain with throbbing, shooting, aching, dull, stabbing, or sharp quality.
- Pain running down either or both legs, with very little pain in the lower back.
- Pain in the lower back and legs that occurs when in certain positions such as sitting or standing.
- Pain that migrates to other parts of the body, including the back or neck.
These examples are only a few of the countless ways in which neck and back problems manifest themselves. Once you understand that there are different types of neck and back pain problems, you will have better control over your particular problem and will be better able to seek the proper treatment to ensure that you do not make your problem worse.
